Title: Customer Service Rep
Report to: Sales Manager

Job Summary:

Skagit Horticulture has an excellent opportunity for an experienced horticulturist to join our Customer Service Team. We are located in the beautiful Skagit Valley an hour north of Seattle.  Central to the Cascade Mountains to the east and the San Juan Islands to the west, it is the ideal climate for perennial plant production.

Our companies are well known for superior customer service and support. This role is a critical position on the sales team. This person works to closely support sales reps who are often on the road visiting customers. You will manage relationships and sales with customers, including everything from day-to-day information requests to program planning and product presentations. You may be asked to professionally attend and assist at trade shows. Responsibilities also include clerical duties and data entry.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Handle all aspects of customer inquiries and calls
  • Serve as "eyes" of the road sales reps when they are out in the field
  • Make outgoing sales calls
  • Take and enter orders
  • Assist sales reps in increasing sales with customers
  • Assist sales team as requested
  • Travel to trade shows and customer visits as required
  • Conduct facility tours

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

  • Ability to work independently, manage and prioritize multiple projects, be a team player
  • Understanding of the grower side of the horticultural industry is helpful
  • Knowledge of annuals, perennials, plant uses and hardiness zones is helpful
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office - Access, Excel, Word, Outlook
  • Excellent people, verbal, math, and writing skills
  • Problem solving skills
  • Sales and people skills

Credentials and Experience:

  • Horticultural industry experience is preferred
  • Minimum two years of customer service or sales experience

Special Requirements:

  • Willingness to work overtime, holidays and weekends as requested
  • Must be able to lift 40 pounds
